Professional Facilitator Training

National Board Certified Teachers who support candidates at school sites (or supporting groups of NB candidates in a cohort) need to know more than the component details. They need to be able to support good conversations about teaching. In addition, they need to help candidates ask one another useful questions, become more analytical about their practice, and be able to identify evidence of work that exemplifies the standards of accomplished teaching.

Now that the certification process has changed the need to receive facilitator training is even greater. We will be using materials created by the National Board as well as materials used here at the National Board Resource Center at Stanford.

Participants will experience their own professional development as we explore analyzing student work, recognizing high-level goals, and mastering the coaching conversation. The Thursday pre-seminar will cover the four components and participants will gain access to our Canvas course, which contains all of our candidate support materials.

Attending remotely as a cohort:

We realize the cost of attending on the Stanford campus might be prohibitive. In order to offer this training to all who want it, we are offering a remote attendance option. You would meet together in your network location, watch the presentation on live-stream, then discuss and process with your local group. We’ll then debrief together and move on to the next topic.
