The Stanford National Board Resource Center is seeking NBCT’s (National Board Certified Teachers) in all certificate areas to join our team as facilitators and/or readers. All work takes place virtually with onboarding and ongoing training provided. Most work will occur on evenings and weekends. Compensation for facilitators starts at $2000 per academic year and compensation for readers starts at $100 per component draft. The duties will start in Nov or Dec, 2021, and continue through the end of the academic year. Applicants will be evaluated on an ongoing basis.

Facilitator duties include:

  • Attending biweekly sessions in the fall and weekly sessions in the Spring (starting mid-January 2021), all online
  • Being available to candidates by email for small questions
  • Reading and giving feedback on candidate writing in small sections or larger sections
  • Organizing and supporting candidate-to-candidate feedback
  • Staying abreast of NBPTS standards and component instructions in your certificate area(s)
  • Willingness to engage in difficult conversations about writing that appears to be biased or written with a deficit lens toward students or communities
  • Facilitating or co-facilitating small certificate-area groups in an online setting
  • Consulting with candidates on Component 1 content exam prep
  • Attend onboarding sessions hosted by the National Board Resource Center

Reader duties include:

  • Reading and giving feedback on candidate writing by component, usually in large sections
  • Being available to candidates for follow up questions
  • Staying abreast of NBPTS standards and component instructions in your certificate area(s)
  • Attend onboarding sessions hosted by the National Board Resource Center

Skills required (for both roles) include:

  • Editing Google Docs or Word documents through comments or suggestion mode
  • Asking guiding questions rather than telling a candidate what to do
  • Punctual written communication
  • Navigation of NBPTS documents logistically, and with attention to detail
  • These include the AAT and 5 Core Props, as well as the C2, C3, and C4 instructions
  • Ability to complete work and meet timelines with minimal supervision

Eligibility:

  • Must be a National Board Certified teacher with current certification
  • Reliable internet for evening and weekend calls
