Supporting candidates for full certification

The National Board Resource Center has developed a framework for candidate support that includes outlines for presenting the topics for a support program and materials that have been useful for helping candidates develop successful portfolios. Frameworks for the first support group sessions are presented here with links to plans and materials that accompany each session. Additional sessions will be added after they have been presented and revised at the Stanford group.

Candidates will learn the NBPTS view of accomplished teaching as represented in the Architecture of Accomplished Teaching and they will understand how its elements are incorporated in the portfolio and the standards. They will be able to use this information to begin to organize their work for the year.

Candidates will learn how the AAT relates to the Core Propositions that are the source of the standards for each certificate area. They will be able to read their standards and connect them to the Core Propositions and the AAT. Additionally, candidates will learn the basic skills needed to produce a video and write the portfolio entry and be able to apply those skills by producing some short videos
in their classrooms and be able to identify the types of writing that will be required in entry commentaries
