National Board Incentives in California

Many school districts in California offer National Board candidates subsidies and support, and offer those who achieve National Board Certification awards, salary increases, and access to other professional opportunities. These locally negotiated incentives encourage teachers to apply for National Board Certification and recognize accomplished teachers who have demonstrated that their teaching practice meets the rigorous professional standards defined by the National Board. The following descriptions of local incentive programs were compiled from reports by teachers in the Bay Area and from the NBPTS website.
